"From Entrepreneurship Students to Student Entrepreneurs"

Virtual Enterprise
and the
Entrepreneurship Education Spectrum

Virtual Enterprise featured on NY1 News: Money Matters

Because of its successes, the pedagogy has been featured at numerous venues. In 2006 CBS News did a national segment on the pedagogy and on a VE Sales Conference where students from several institutions (as close as New York and as far as Austria) presented their products at Kingsborough (Leka, 2006). That same year, NY1 News featured the Virtual Stock Market Competition, where VE companies went public (Messina, 2006). The Advanced Technological Education Program of the National Science Foundation featured Virtual Enterprise as a frontrunner in the crucial goal of integrating entrepreneurial education into STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields (Patton, 2007). In 2008, Virtual Enterprise's MarketMaker virtual economy was awarded "Best of New York" for its innovative use of technology for the public good (Government Technology, 2008). That same year the pedagogy was awarded "Innovative Entrepreneurship Course" by the United States Association for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (USASBE, 2008). In 2010, a concept paper on bringing Virtual Enterprise to associates-level pre-engineering programs (Troudt, 2010) won "Sessionís Best Paper Award" at the International Multi-Conference on Engineering and Technological Innovation. And, most recently VE was featured as a tool for Biotechnology education in the newsletter of Bio-Link -- The National Advanced Technological Center for Biotechnology (Bio-Link, 2010).
