IVE Crowns Winners of 2009 Stock Market Competition

Antonio Delgado, of the California VE Network, has been named winner of CUNY IVE's Fourth Annual Stock Market Competition. More than 500 students participated in the two month-long contest, representing Arizona, California, Ohio, Massachusetts, New York in the US as well as Denmark and Austria in Europe. Each student began with a trading budget of $10,000 to invest in the virtual and real stock market using the IVE Market Maker (www.ivefinancial.com). The recent turbulence on Wall Street made this year's competition a particular challenging one; however, the students welcomed the challenge, carefully made investment decisions, and successfully increased their trading portfolios.

Over seven million dollars in equity were traded- with 4.5 million dollars bought and nearly 3 million dollars sold. Antonio Delgado grew the value of his portfolio by more than 100 percent. IVE Director, Dr. Stuart Schulman, congratulates Antonio and all students on their accomplishments and is already looking forward to next year's competition.

Congratulations to the three winners of the 2009 IVE Stock Market Competition:
  1. Antonio Delgado ($20,807.72), California VE Network
  2. Jessica Johns ($19,609.73), California VE Network
  3. Raul Chaidez ($18,844.49), California VE Network

The top three winners who will receive Staples gift certificates will be officially recognized during the Online Trading Day on April 29th, 2009.
